Key Experience
Experience working with a range of difficulties including Social Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Separation anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Emotional regulation, Depression, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD.
10 years’ experience working with children, young people and their families, with the majority of this time spent within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) supporting young people living with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
Clinical supervisor for the University of Reading, supervising trainee CBT therapists working in children’s mental health within the NHS.
Mel’s Special Interests
Mel draws on a range of therapeutic models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Adolescents (DNA-V), Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR and Parent as Therapist approaches.
Mel has a gentle style and aims to provide a safe environment where she and the young people she supports can work together to make sense of their difficulties and work together to make positive changes to the challenges they are facing.
Mel has a special interest in working with anxiety disorders, trauma and PTSD. Mel is also passionate about working with and supporting parents.
