Key Experience:

  • Joanna qualified as an Educational Psychologist in 2001 and has worked in Buckinghamshire, both as a maingrade and a senior EP

  • She has acquired a wide range of experience in working with children, young people, parents and adults in various educational and work-related settings

  • Supported trainee Educational Psychologists in their professional and doctoral training

  • Dyslexia assessments with new recruits for the Ministry of Defence

  • Before training as an Educational Psychologist, Jo was a primary school teacher in East Sussex

Joanna Keates's Special interests:

  • Working with teaching assistants and SENCOs to promote Nuture in schools (Joanna has been a presenter/ facilitator in county wide training covering developing Nurture Groups and Nurturing schools as well as a range of other topics.)

  • Understanding the impact of children’s learning needs and the environment on progress, attention and behaviours

  • Developing practical interventions for pupils by working collaboratively with parents and teachers

  • Working with young people and their significant adults to develop relationships and communication skills using Video Interaction Guidance/Video Enhanced Reflecting Practice (VIG/VERP).

  • Joanna is an Accredited VIG practitioner and VIG supervisor
