Dr Susan Wimshurst - Clinical Psychologist

Doctorate in Clinical Psychology / Chartered Psychologist [D.Clin.Psy., C.Psychol].

Key Experience:

  • Worked with children and families since qualifying in 2005.

  • Susan provides specialist psychological assessments of children and their families and provides psychological intervention, for a wide range of emotional and mental health needs.

Dr Susan Wimshurt’s Special Interests:

  • Particular interest and experience in anxiety disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

  • Developmental disorders including Autistic Spectrum disorders and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

  • Helping young people make sense of difficult emotions such as anxiety, anger and low mood and supporting them with skills to manage such feelings.

  • Working with children and young people with low self esteem and school based anxieties.

  • Supporting famillies with a child with behavioural difficulties.

  • Conducting cognitive assessments (also known as psychometric assessments) to provide a detailed ‘learning profile’ for an individual child which can then ensure their learning needs are being met within school.
