Doctorate in Clinical Psychology / Chartered Psychologist [D.Clin.Psy., C.Psychol].
Key Experience:
Worked with children and families since qualifying in 2005.
Susan provides specialist psychological assessments of children and their families and provides psychological intervention, for a wide range of emotional and mental health needs.
Dr Susan Wimshurt’s Special Interests:
Particular interest and experience in anxiety disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Developmental disorders including Autistic Spectrum disorders and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Helping young people make sense of difficult emotions such as anxiety, anger and low mood and supporting them with skills to manage such feelings.
Working with children and young people with low self esteem and school based anxieties.
Supporting famillies with a child with behavioural difficulties.
Conducting cognitive assessments (also known as psychometric assessments) to provide a detailed ‘learning profile’ for an individual child which can then ensure their learning needs are being met within school.
