Dr Jo Mathews - Clinical Psychologist


Key Experience
Jo has worked in the NHS in psychological services for ten years, the majority of which has been with a focus on supporting autistic people who are experiencing mental health problems.
Prior to moving to private practice in 2023, Jo’s most recent NHS post was working as the Senior Psychologist and Clinical Lead for autism services across an NHS trust in Wales.
Jo has worked with autistic people across the lifespan (from four years old up to eighty-seven years old) with a particular interest in working with autistic young people and their families.
Jo has specialist training in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Condition
Dr Jo Mathews' Special Interests:
Jo is passionate about adapting therapy to suit the needs of neurodivergent young people who are experiencing mental health problems, with experience adapting Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy and schema therapy for this client group.
Jo also enjoys supporting parents to better understand the experience of their neurodivergent child (or children).
Jo also has an interest in working with autistic individuals who identify as non-binary, gender fluid or transgender.
