Dr Amy Stewart - Clinical Psychologist

Key Experience:

  • Worked in the NHS in psychological services for 15 years, the majority of which has been supporting children, young people and their families

  • Until 2021 has been working for Buckinghamshire CAMHS in their Getting More Help team, supporting young people and families living with moderate to severe mental health difficulties

  • Previously worked with children and young people in General Paediatrics and Chronic Pain Services at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, London and with fostered and adopted children and their families using Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

Dr Amy Stewart’s Special Interests:

  • Working with neurodivergent children and families, offering neuro-affirmative approaches in therapy to support wellbeing.

  • Working with children, young people and families living with chronic health conditions e.g. chronic pain, orthopaedic conditions, medically unexplained symptoms drawing on ideas from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Narrative Therapy

  • Supporting relationships between parents/carers and children affected by developmental trauma, using Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) informed approaches

  • Parenting support; building parents strengths and resources in their relationships with their children across childhood and adolescence

  • Adjustment to relationship changes and family life cycle challenges, for example through bereavement, separation, illness

  • Mental health and wellbeing difficulties such as depression and anxiety as well as challenges with confidence, self-esteem and stress
