Teenagers

If you have noticed that your teenager’s behaviour has changed, or he/she seems unhappy or tearful, psychologists may be able to offer support to them and yourselves.

In adolescence, young people are learning to become adults. This is not an easy process and many teenagers experience problems, which can also be worrying and stressful for their families. Problems may include low mood or depression, self-harm, anxiety, or eating issues such as anorexia or bulimia. With support from a professional, these problems can often be overcome and the teenager grow up to be a healthy, happy adult. Depending on the young person’s difficulties, and also their wishes, a psychologist may work with the young person on their own, or with the family.
