  • Rabhya provides specialist psychological assessments of children and their families and provides psychological intervention, for a wide range of emotional and mental health needs.
  • Rabhya also works with children with learning disabilities or learning difficulties and their families to understand and resolve emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • This work includes assessment (gathering information from various sources to develop a comprehensive picture of the child’s strengths and challenges), formulation (making sense of this information, of how problems have developed, and what maintains them), and recommendations for how they could be ameliorated.
  • Advising on the best approach to develop a joined up plan for each child across settings and agencies including schools and social care, so that children receive helpfully consistent care.
  • I have a particular interest in parental relationships and well-being, which can be challenged as well as enriched by the demands of caring for children with special needs.

  • Understanding the impact of learning disability on children’s academic and psychological functioning, and on their parents and siblings
  • Attachment issues, eg clinginess, insecurity, difficulties in sleeping, eating, relating – these are also very relevant for adopted children
  • Behaviour management of children with learning disabilities
  • Promoting development and positive relationships for children with learning disabilities and their families
  • Childhood trauma, in adults as well as children
