“Being me” course for children with autism aged 9-11

Everlief are running at 6 week training course for 9-11 year old Boys with ASD on Thursdays, 5th, 12th and 19th Oct, 2nd, 9th, 16th of Nov 5.15-7.15pm. Amongst the topics, we will be exploring self-acceptance, understanding their own unique profile and increasing their knowledge about ASD. Inclusion criteria

  • Average or above IQ (in mainstream education or an ARP)
  • Aware of the diagnosis
  • Fluent in English
  • Exclusion criteria

  • Children who present a high-risk
  • Children who cannot commit to coming to every session
  • Objectives of the course

  • To increase each child’s knowledge about ASD
  • To increase each child’s understanding of his own unique profile of strengths and difficulties
  • To increase self-acceptance (learning to accept one’s differences and embrace one’s strengths)
  • What are we going to cover?

    Week one: Who am I? (On the outside, what am I like and how do I see myself?)

    Week two: Who am I? (On the inside, including my personality and values.)

    Week three: What is ASD?

    Week four: What is my “ASD profile”? (What particular traits of ASD do I have?)

    Week five: What are my strengths?

    Week six: Using my strengths to overcome difficulties.
